KCBOE propose funds to Karns before Austin-East, controversy

Lynne Fugate, member for the fourth district of Knox County Board of Education, broke the silence at the school board meeting on Thursday.  Fugate was quick to interject before almost $400,000 in funds was allocated to the Karns High School culinary program.

Fugate argued Austin-East was offered the same provisions in the past, without ever receiving their end of the deal. “Karns got a brand new program before Austin-East got what they were supposed to get. I just think it looks bad and that the community deserves an answer,” Fugate said.
